What it does for video

Upscaled to 1080p

Most video is lifted from its original 480p all the way to 1080p, roughly triple the resolution. Some tapes cap out at 720p depending on how they were recorded.

What it does for audio

Audio enhancement is available on audio items only — audio cassettes, reel-to-reel and the like. It is not available for the audio on video items.

Eclipse AI is delivered on the Cloud — the enhanced files are too large for a thumb drive or disc set, so the Cloud option is required. You get both the original and the enhanced version, so you can see exactly what changed.

Common questions

How do I add Eclipse AI to my order?

Fill in the option on the back of the Customer Card that comes with your Digitize Kit. If your order is already on its way to us, contact us and we will add it. It can also be added after an order is finished.
Can I add it to just one video, or does it apply to everything?

By default it is applied to every item in your order, but you can specify exactly which items you want it on using your Customer Card.
What resolution will my videos be?

Eclipse AI works out the best upscale for each video and takes it as far as 1080p. Most end up there, a major step up from the usual 480p, though some cap at 720p depending on how they were originally recorded.
Do I get the original version too?

Yes. Your finished order contains both the untouched version and the Eclipse AI version, so you can see the difference for yourself. Both live on the Cloud.
What can Eclipse AI not fix?

It cannot undo damage. Tracking problems, moisture damage and physical damage to the original media are beyond what enhancement can repair, and audio recorded onto video items cannot be enhanced.
Does it add to the processing time?

Yes. Eclipse AI takes a significant amount of time to run, video especially, so it will add to your turnaround depending on the size of your order.
